Stop Eating Fast Food: Why Fast Food Is Slowly Killing You

Eight in 10 Americans eat fast food at least once a month and half eat it every week according, to a Gallup Poll. Yet most people who eat fast food know it’s bad for them. So why do they keep eating it? The answer is simple: the benefits of eating fast food outweigh the long-term implications for most people. However, once you read these reasons why all those trips to the drive through may be slowly killing you, you may just want to stop eating fast food after all. 1. Fast food makes you fat. A 15-year study of over 3,000 people found that eating fast food is linked to weight gain and insulin resistance. In others words, fast food makes you fat and increases your risk of type 2 diabetes. You probably know this already. But here’s something you may not know— 2. Fast food is addictive. The more you eat fast food, the more you crave it. One study found that fast food is “a potentially addictive substance that is most likely to create dependence in vulnerable populations.” If you eat fast food once a week or more, you may be addicted to it. 3. Fast food eggs are definitely not the breakfast of champions. Breakfast sandwiches at fast food restaurants are a true modern marvel of chemistry. The “egg” sandwich at Subway, for example, has ingredients like glycerin, which is found in soap, and dimethylpolysiloxane, a type of silicone found in Silly Putty and many lubricants. 4. Fast food is affecting your kids. According to the CDC, childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years. Kids have an amazing ability to recall ads they’ve seen. Fast food marketers know this, and design ads accordingly. One study found that most fast food burgers are composed of about 50 percent water and the actual meat content is only 2.1 to 14.8 percent. So what makes up the rest of it, you ask? Chemical fillers and preservatives, mostly. That’s why we see read horror stories about burgers that don’t go bad. 6. Fast food “chicken nuggets” are even nastier than “burgers.” Many chicken nuggets at fast food restaurants contain a chemical preservative called TBHQ, which can cause nausea, vomiting and even death. Some also contain dimethylpolysiloxane (the stuff in Silly Putty). If Silly Putty nuggets don’t deter you from eating them, maybe this will: many fast food chicken nuggets and patties are still made from mechanically-separated chicken, which is a slimy mixture that’s created from the processed bones and carcass of leftover chickens. 7. Even “healthy” fast food isn’t that healthy. Fast food restaurants are catering to consumer demands to produce healthier options. The problem is, their definition of “healthy” is quite lax. Okay, this one may not be a reason why fast is killing you, but it’s still a compelling reason to stop eating fast food. 9 billion animals were slaughtered in the U.S. alone in 2012 and much of that meat is for your fast food burgers and chicken sandwiches. Large factory farms resemble more of a “business” than a “farm.” Animals suffer in crowded spaces where they rarely have access to the outdoors or sunlight. They are pumped full of antibiotics to combat disease, which runs rampant in these conditions. Livestock is one of the biggest sources of pollution and environmental negligence, according to the UN. 9. Fast food sodas are loaded with sugar. High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is the cheap sweetener most fast food restaurants use in their sodas, desserts, and many other products. Princeton University researchers linked HFCS consumption to obesity in an animal study. Rats given HFCS gained more weight and body fat than those given table sugar. 10. Fast food doesn’t really taste that good. What’s better: a fast food burger or one you cook that’s straight off the grill? For my money, I’d rather eat a delicious grass fed beef burger that I cooked than a crappy fast food pseudo-burger. Maybe that’s just me though. THE SLOW POISONING OF YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN How science and medicine have betrayed you "Basically, you die earlier and spend more time disabled if you’re an American rather than a member of most other advanced countries." - Christopher Murray, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the World Health Organization's Global Program on Evidence for Health Policy, 2000. At the beginning of the 20th century the US ranked 1st in health among the major industrial nations. US spending per capita on health is currently the highest in the world yet the US now ranks 37th in actual health statistics in the top industrial countries and has the highest infant mortality rate. The US also rates 24th in life expectancy. So what happened in the last century to cause this dramatic reversal? This website will detail the exact causes of this breakdown in American health. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that there is something seriously wrong with the current medical model which mostly consists of suppressing symptoms rather than finding true causes. But there's more to it than that. If you look into the field of natural alternative cures, especially nutrition, you can be immediately struck by the fact that it is a very confused field full of contrary data. You can read books extolling the virtues of various herbs or minerals and then books warning of the harm from the exact same substances. Some books promote eating certain foods and others recommend avoiding those same foods. You can see a lot of fads and a mixture of seemingly sensible ideas and some quite bizarre ones. When you come across contrary data, it is unlikely that both are wholly true. The question is, which if any are true, and why. Sometimes certain supplements will work on one person but not another or they will work at first and then stop working. So how do you really optimally handle a body? Since you have one and maybe plan to have it for awhile and since there is no owner's manual it might behoove you to find out : ) Fortunately, over the last many decades there has been a great deal of research into this and there have been some very major breakthroughs. Some of this research may be very interesting to you and also some may be quite shocking. Some will no doubt be familiar to you and some will not. There is an actual sequence of events that currently most often leads to serious illness and disease as well as a number of major barriers that now exist to people getting well even if they take the right treatments and supplements and fortunately, there are also solutions to these. This site will also cover how and why you are putting your future quality of life at enormous risk when you eat foods bought at a typical US supermarket and just what exactly you are condemning your kids to when you let them eat at fast food establishments or drink the highly toxic soft drinks, especially so-called "diet" drinks. The information at the site will be the result of more than a century of research by others and will only be data that has been broadly substantiated. It will bear little relation to the unbelievable barrage of false data that is spouted daily by magazines, TV ads and TV news and magazine shows. Even if you pay no attention to this information for yourself at least pay attention to it for the sake of your children and their children. 

WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON? Stated briefly, here's what has happened: 1) In 1855 German chemist Baron Justus von Leibig published a paper theorizing that the only minerals that plants needed were nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. This concept was then aggressively marketed to farmers. By the end of his life von Leibig had changed his mind. But by then chemical fertilizers had killed most of the necessary microorganisms in the topsoil. 2) The chemicalization of our foods essentially started in 1912 when the FDA was subverted and manipulated by commercial interests after the removal of Dr. Harvey W. Wiley - who had the temerity to try and prevent Coca-Cola from ever reaching the market. Since that time an enormous quantity of highly toxic chemical food additives, preservatives, pesticides, fungicides, dyes and packaging chemicals have been added to our food to the point where food no longer fits its own dictionary definition: food n. 1. Material, usually of plant or animal origin, that contains or consists of essential body nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals, and is ingested and assimilated by an organism to produce energy, stimulate growth, and maintain life. There are over 14,000 man-made chemicals added to our American food supply today. As an example, take a look at the listed ingredients of Subway products which are heavily advertized as a healthy alternative to burger fast food: Chicken type flavor, artificial colors FD&C red 40 lake, yellow 5, yellow 6, blue 2 lake, red 40, blue 1 lake, blue 1, blue 2, yellow 5 lake, yellow 6 lake, thiamin mononitrate, hydrogenated vegetable shortening, acetylated tartaric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides, ammonium sulfate, calcium sulfate, azodicarbonamide, potassium iodate, sodium stearoyl-2-lactylate, high fructose corn syrup, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, sodium metabisulfite, sodium benzoate as a preservative, Polysorbate 80, sodium tripolyphosphate, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, thiamin hydrochloride, sodium phosphates, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrite, sodium stearoyl-2-lactylate, sodium diacetate, silicon dioxide etc. etc. Chemical food additives are not natural nutrition for humans or their pets. Human bodies were not designed to ingest or assimilate these chemicals and they don't know what to do with them and they respond to them as the toxins that they are and they become sick, either quickly or slowly. If you give a person a tiny amount of a poison every day, it may take a long while but eventually he will get very sick. Chemically altered foods and those grown in soils depleted of minerals and enzymes are no longer being recognized or digested properly and they create problems in the body that make it impossible for the body to heal itself and get well. People have been eating so many dead and enzyme-lacking foods for so long that their bodies are also no longer capable of producing the enzymes that they need. Some of these additives are chemicals that are deliberately engineered in order to get you to get addicted to the specific food that contains them and to make you eat more. It's no accident the US obesity stats are as high as they are. Genetically modified (GM) food is widely available in the USA but in Europe consumer resistance has led to a refusal by the main supermarkets to stock GM products. Modern food has been ruined with chemical shelf-life preservatives and the way that the food is artificially fed and other synthetic additives at the expense of the enzymes. The normal enzymes that the pancreas produces, most of which are supposed to be used internally, end up getting used up trying to digest these enzyme-lacking genetically-modified processed "foods". These same fake foods are then "enriched" with a synthetic vitamin spray (see 6 ) below). And so our bodies are suffering from severe undernourishment and malnutrition and thus weakened they easily become sick. People can also become allergic to or intolerant of certain everyday foods such as wheat or milk and since 60-70% of the immune system is actually in the lining of the intestines, this also weakens them. For a better understanding on why what has happened to enzymes is so crucial, see the Enzymes articles in the Body Info section. 3) The chemicalization and resultant toxicity of our environment from such things as Isopropyl Alcohol products (hair sprays, shampoos, facial and skin products) some plastics, acetates, dry-cleaning fluids, chlorines from pools and showers, formaldehyde from new construction, hydrocarbons, food dyes, fluoride, perfumes and fragrances all contribute to putting so much strain on bodies that they get sick and can also become unable to respond to even correct nutritional treatments. 4) Heavy metals such as mercury in fillings and root canals as well as cadmium from traffic fumes, lead paints, hair dyes etc. also further weaken the body. 5) When you get sick you are then given medications that frequently create serious side effects because when you suppress the body's warning systems it is forced to create more symptoms. At least 250 of the more common medications also contribute to making it extremely hard for a body to heal itself. This is because they bypass the autonomic nervous system and give the body new symptoms that it is now even more unable to recover from due to also not being given enough proper nourishment in food to do so. 6) Many people in order to try and minimize the effects of the above take vitamins and minerals obtained from their local health store completely unaware that 95% of these vitamins and minerals are now supplied by the same pharmaceutical companies who have created many of these problems. They are no longer the nutritional supplements they once were but are, more accurately, "nutraceuticals" which are synthetic fractional chemical isolates of real vitamins and are really only safer drugs. People tend to assume that Vitamin C from one brand is pretty much the same as Vitamin C from another brand and in many cases, they're right since the Vitamin C came from the same original supplier. But what most people don't realize is that these vitamins and minerals are not true and complete vitamins and minerals as would be supplied by good organically-grown whole foods but are in fact chemical synthetics made from such things as coal tar, petroleum products, animal by-products, waste and fecal matter, ground rocks, stones, shells and metal. And not only do they not supply the benefits of the real vitamins and minerals but they can actually be harmful to you when taken over time. Especially in the mega doses so often recommended. Real vitamins only require very minute doses to be effective. SUMMARY In a nutshell, what is going on is that we are being continuously slowly poisoned by our toxic food and our toxic environment to the point where our bodies simply cannot handle it and we eventually become chronically ill. The lack of enzymes in our food overtaxes the body's own enzyme production process and causes its eventual breakdown. Then we get treated with toxic medications or vitamin synthetics which make us even more ill. If we are unfortunate enough to end up in a hospital, we get more toxic food and medications and frequently pick up diseases that we didn't have before (see the Medical Statistics section). It's a vicious cycle but one that we don't have to put up with.

HOW YOU GET SICK

HOW YOU GET SICK The actual sequence that leads to much chronic illness: 1) Among the body's systems is one of paramount importance, the autonomic nervous system, which controls many of the body's major functions automatically without any conscious input from you. In order to function correctly, part of which is body-healing and rebuilding, the autonomic nervous system needs to be supplied with real food - the true nutrients, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, enzymes, vitamins and minerals etc. provided by real whole foods and if these are not provided, the autonomic nervous system cannot do its job. Chemically altered processed foods depleted of enzymes and fruits and vegetables grown in soils depleted of minerals do not provide the nourishment needed by the autonomic nervous system and they also give the body new unrecognized substances to deal with that can't be digested properly and that act as poisons in the body and weaken the organs and glands. Certain well-known so-called "soft drinks" are highly toxic and shut down the liver and cause diabetes. Their "diet" counterparts are even worse and create symptoms that mirror the symptoms of MS, Lupus, Fybromyalgia and others. "Foods" radiated in microwaves become carcinogenic to the body. And people can also become allergic to or intolerant of everyday foods. Enzyme deficiency, irritants such as alcohol and drugs, chemical preservatives, antibiotics, food allergies and toxins also create intestinal inflammation and contribute to the intestinal walls starting to leak those toxins and foodstuffs into the bloodstream. This leads not only to nutritional deficiencies but also to the body starting to attack itself and its own tissues and causes further allergies and all manner of unpleasant symptoms. 2) People also get battered about by stresses from life (mostly from other people) and the strains and various toxicities of the environment, particularly prevalent in hair sprays, shampoos, facial and skin products for women, toxic mercury leaking out of fillings and root canals and the result is that their bodies, improperly nourished by fake foods, cannot properly respond to these stresses or even to correct nutritional treatments. 3) As the body starts to fall apart organ by organ the bacteria start moving in. They don't cause the problem, they come after the problem is caused. If you don't address the real problems, the body will not be able to repair the organs. Then people develop a "diagnosable disease". 4) Conventional "treatment" is to suppress the symptoms with more drugs or to use antibiotics to kill all the bacteria, bad and good, which create often worse symptoms. 5) Now the person is really sick. And the doctor doesn't know what's wrong with him but he can sure suppress the new symptoms and of course give him a whole new collection to deal with and so the vicious cycle continues and often leads to the by now over-toxic organ(s) being cut out of the body by surgery, which creates its own legion of problems. And thus we have people who eventually become medical wreckage with bodies so degenerated that their road back to real health can be a very long one indeed, if they even are able to fully recover, and sadly not all are. Note: The above sequence applies equally to how a great many people, including an increasing number of children, are misdiagnosed and end up on psychiatric drugs, as the section on ADD on this site will cover in depth.

SOME KEY FACTS * Everybody's physical situation with regard to their balances and imbalances of fluids, organs, glands and vitamin reserves in the body is different thus there is no way to standardize how much of a particular vitamin everyone should take. What works wonderfully for one person may do nothing for another. * If you suppress symptoms, the body will create new and different and often worse symptoms (often known as side-effects when related to drugs). Suppressing body symptoms as with drugs always creates worse illness, period. It is far more important to be able to diagnose correct causes rather than to try and suppress symptoms. The latter will create other symptoms whereas the former can remove the problem for good without side-effects and without having to be on harmful drugs for life. * The human body has innate abilities to heal itself and it is quite able to do so as long as you don't bypass it's autonomic nervous system, (the parasympathetic nervous system heals the body while we rest) by temporary symptom treating with the likes of drugs and medications and nutraceuticals. The more you do so, the less chance the body has of healing itself and the worse it gets over time. * Very often a symptom in one part of the body is caused by an organ or gland malfunction in another. Thus trying to treat joint problems with substances such as Glucosamine or MSM, while they may bring temporary relief in some circumstances, will have little longterm effect if the problem is coming from a malfunctioning organ or gland, as is often the case. * There is a huge difference between true nutrition and the up-and-coming field of "nutraceuticals" (most of the synthetic fractionated chemical isolates currently being sold as vitamins and minerals in health stores and which are now supplied by the pharmaceutical companies). True whole food vitamins don't leech the body of their missing co-factors and don't cause a vitamin imbalance leading to the return and increase of symptoms. True vitamins also don't need mega doses to create their effect. A high number of milligrams is often an indication of a synthetic source. * Bodies do indeed need the correct foods in order to repair themselves but the chemically and genetically altered toxic and addictive processed concoctions that pass for "food" in a typical US supermarket, fast food establishments and even many restaurants, are slowly poisoning those who ingest them and creating tremendous illnesses in the US population. * Parents usually love and want the best for their children yet everyday they are unknowingly slowly poisoning them and condemning them to future lives of pain and misery. * While drugs can have temporary use in acute crisis control, continued use beyond that is extremely destructive. Pharmaceutical products are so powerful that they bypass the body's own ability to heal itself. They bypass the autonomic nervous system and force a change in function through a direct chemical intervention. * People who go the medical route eventually become "medical wreckage" - they've been on so many medications and/or their bodies have been cut up or burned (radiated) so many times that their bodies are no longer capable of responding to correct and true healing treatments. * When the human body has enough energy and can focus on what it has to do, it can repair almost any disorder. But when the human body is malnourished and doesn’t have enough energy and proper focus, we can catch a cold, get the flu, have indigestion, get constipated or even end up with a tumor or cancer. Almost everyone is needlessly draining their body’s energy supply on a daily basis and consequently the body’s ability to protect and repair itself is impaired and people age quicker, get diseases and acquire a considerable number of physical problems. * Concurrently with the poisoning of our food and and as part of the situation, farmland soil has been eroded and depleted of its vital nutrients with the result that an orange that contained 50% vitamin C 50 years ago now contains less than 5%. To get the amount of iron that you could get in a cup of spinach in 1945 you would now need to consume 65 cups. * There is an unholy alliance between the Food & Drug Administration and the drug companies that results in unsafe foods and drugs being foisted on a largely unsuspecting public. * Kids are raised on sugar and white flour and their health deteriorates rather rapidly and they become medical clients earlier and earlier. * 15-20 years ago, the female body would start to fall apart in the 35-55 age range and women would start to not feel as good as they used to. Now we are finding more and more women in their 20's starting to feel like women used to at 35 and 40. * People taking 3 medications statistically stand a 50% chance of ending up in a hospital for emergency treatment and people taking 5 or more medications stand a 100% chance. * We have been and continue to be seriously misled by those in the food and drug industries who have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders to make increased profits by selling more "food" and drugs and who also stand to lose billions if people were to start getting well.
